EYEBROW TATTOOING

Does it hurt?

Before your procedure, topical anaesthetic is applied to the brow area. Anaesthetic  is also used during the procedure to ensure any discomfort is kept to a minimum. Depending on your pain tolerance you may find the process slightly uncomfortable however most people find it quite tolerable as measures are taken to alleviate any discomfort. Heightened sensitivity may occur during your menstrual cycle if applicable.

How long do they last?

Eyebrow tattooing, including microblading is considered a semi permanent treatment and will fade over time. Factors such as pigment colour, sun exposure and skincare products influence the duration. Initially a 6-8 week perfection touch up is required then touch ups every 12-24 months are recommended to maintain the colour and definition of the brow.

How many sessions are necessary?

At least 2 sessions are required for all types of cosmetic tattooing. The first session establishes the shape and lays the foundation, with a follow up session performed 6-8 weeks later to assess pigment retention and make any adjustments to the shape and colour. Additional sessions may be needed for previously tattooed eyebrows or those with oily skin.

What type of pigments do you use?

We use a range of specially formulated synthetic, organic, or mineral pigments that can be mixed to achieve a variety of colours and tones to ensure the tattoo matched seamlessly with your natural brow.

How long does the procedure take?

The first session takes an hour and 15 minutes, including consultation, numbing, design and tattooing. The touch up appointment takes 1 hour.

Is it safe?

Absolutely. We work under strict infection control guidelines and use only single use, disposable tools. We adhere strictly to sterilisation procedures and hold a Personal Appearance Services Licence through council.

Is this service suitable for me?

Considerations include skin type, previous tattooing, and medical conditions. Factors like oily skin or previous tattooing may affect the outcome. A consultation is available if necessary for previously tattooed brows or specific concerns.

What happens during the procedure?

Upon arrival, you'll complete a consultation form to determine your medical history and desired outcome from the treatment. Your brow shape will be determined through our mapping technique, giving you an opportunity to make any adjustments to the final shape before the tattooing process begins. Throughout the procedure, anaesthetic will be applied to ensure any discomfort is kept to a minimum.

How will I look afterward? What is the healing process?

Your brows may appear slightly darker initially but will gradually lighten during the healing process, which takes approximately 7-10 days. Unlike other inks on the market, our inks are stable when put in the skin. This means that they aren't too dark when first done, meaning you can go back to normal activities/work etc immediately after the treatment. If you have sensitive skin, your skin may be slightly red post treatment, which usually subsides within several hours. Avoid picking at the scabs or dry skin to prevent pigment loss during the healing process.

What's the aftercare process?

For the first 2 weeks following the treatment, avoid exposure to direct sunlight, tanning treatments, spas, saunas, salt & chlorinated water, high pressure shower spray and excessive sweating. Avoid using any exfoliants or cleansers that contain active ingredients such as glycolic, hyaluronic, lactic or salicylic acids or witchhazel. Do not receive eyebrow tinting, waxing, electrolysis or laser hair removal treatments close to the eyebrow area.

For the next 7 days, you will need to gently cleanse your brows twice daily with a neutral cleanser such as cetaphil or QV wash. Do not use cleansers that contain active ingredients as this will cause loss of pigment and fading. Pat dry with a clean tissue. Apply a small amount of the aftercare cream provided twice daily using your fingertip. Ensure your hands are clean before applying the product to prevent infection. You may experience some itching, this is normal during the healing process. Do not pick or scratch at your eyebrows as this will increase your chance of infection as well as cause the colour to heal unevenly which in turn could result in loss of ink, fading or scarring. Allow the tattoo to heal by itself and the scab to shed naturally. Do not receive skin care treatments for 7 days following treatment. Do not apply makeup or regular creams to your brow area for 7 days following treatment. Keep your hair away from your eyebrows to prevent infection.

For long term care, use a good quality sunscreen on the treated area. Sun exposure may cause your tattoo to fade. If you are planning a chemical peel, laser treatment or an MRI scan, please inform your technician of your cosmetic tattooing. Please inform the National Blood Service if you intend to donate blood as you may not be eligible to donate blood for several months following your treatment.

Please remember that your brows may look faded or patchy during the 6 week healing period. They will look their lightest from day 7 into week 2 and will darken gradually over the following weeks showing their true colour at week 6. Trust the process!

Do I need a consultation first?
